Student Success Statement- Margaret Thatcher

Student Success Statement
“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.
Margaret Thatcher
This quote means when you plan to succeed and you know it’s going to be hard but you know you are doing the right thing that makes you a person with courage and that shows you being a good person. Although, you know sometimes doing the right thing can be difficult for you but you still do it because you know that doing the right thing is going to bring you happiness. So it doesn’t matter if you think it’s difficult because as long as you are doing the right thing that is all that matters. Some people think that doing the right thing is lame and dumb but it’s the opposite it’s what brings joy to your life and personal satisfaction as it says in the quote. So you have to learn to teach yourself from the right and wrong and choose the right path and it you choose the right path it may be hard for you at first to stick to it but it’s a great choice at the end.

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work Part 3

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work
 Part 3
Brad MacGowan, of the Career Center at Newton North High School in Massachusetts, thinks that working can be a valuable part of a student’s life, if taken on responsibility. “You can derive a great deal from working, considerably more than just money, “he says. “In most cases, you can acquire a nice does of discipline and a whole new set of skills and experiences.” In addition, your supervisor may be willing to write a strong college recommendation for you.
School Comes First
Schoolwork, including homework and studying for tests, should always be your top priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide to work, “If you are rushing through your assignments … or not studying enough for tests because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

Summary/ Reflection On A Little Girl Locked in Bathroom

Summary: Today the story was about a fourth-grade elementary girl who was locked up in a restroom by her grandparents for six years. The grandparents said that they had her locked in their because she wasn’t a normal girl. They would only let her go out to school and when she would get back from school they would lock her up in the restroom again. Now the police found out and they discovered that she was only allowed to go outside when relatives would come and she is in good condition and now the grandparents are doing 10 years in prison.
Reflection: This story to me is just very sad because knowing that a little girl just a little girl was locked inside a restroom every single day is just horrible it even makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it. There was no reason for the grandparents to treat her in such an evil way and plus she is just a small child that is having no heart what they did to her. They deserve to be in prison locked up how she was for the rest of their lives. Also, it was their own grandchild how could they have done this to her. But just know that when you choose to do something mean and hurtful eventually it will come back to you and hit you even harder. We should never treat a child like that because they are just innocent children and not to evil deeds because that just brings hate and evilness to your heart. I hope these people learned their lesson and never do such a thing like that again we should love and care for eachother not mistreat one another.

Blancing High School and partime work part 1

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work

Part 1

Like many high school students, you may want – or need – to work part time. Working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, Make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.

Important Considerations

You have to weigh a number of factors when deciding whether to take on a part-time job. It is important to get as much information as possible, so you can figure out what choice makes the most sense for you. Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. Talk to your counselor about why you want to work and what type of position you’re seeking.

Student Success Statement - Theodore Roosevelt

Student Success Statement
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt
I love this statement because it is just true. It’s saying that no matter what we should always do the right thing and I agree. If we ever get into a situation that you get stuck in and don’t know what to do the right thing will always bring you that good satisfaction inside your heart. It will also give you a pure heart whenever you do something that you know is right you feel right because you did something good and you didn’t choose the wrong. So this statement says that whenever you are caught up in making a decision when you choose to do the right thing everything is going to go great but if you choose to do wrong well most likely you aren’t going to do that great. That is why we should always be sincere and honest and polite with one another that is the best thing you can ever do is just do the right thing.

THE ARTS
RESEARCH INDICATES THAT STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE ARTS OFTEN DO BETTER IN SCHOOL AND ON STANDARIZED TESTS. THE ARTS HELP YOU RECOGNIZE PATTERNS, DISCERN DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES, AND EXERCISE YOUR MIND IN UNIQUE WAYS, OFTEN OUTSIDE A TRADITTIONAL CLASSROOM SETTING.
MANY COLLEGES REQUIRE OR RECOMMEND ONE OR TWO SEMESTERS IN THE ARTS. GOOD CHOICES INCLUDE STUDIO ART, DANCE, MUSIC, AND DRAMA. MANY STUDENTS HAVE TALENTS AND EXTRAORDINARY ABILITIES IN THE ARTS. STUDENTS SHOULD LOOK WITHIN THEIR OWN REPERTOIRE OF TALENTS AND IDENTIFY THEIR ARTISTIC ABILITIES AND TAKE COLLEGE CLASSES TO DEVELOP THEIR TALENTS.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM (AP)
TO BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO TAKE ON COLLEGE-LEVEL WORK, ENROLL IN THE MOST CHALLENGING COURSES YOU CAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, SUCH AS HONOR OR AP COURSES. RESEARCH CONSISTENTLY SHOWS THAT STUDENTS WHO SCORE A 3.0 OR HIGHER ON AN AP EXAM TYPICALLY EXPERIENCE GREATER ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND COLLEGE GRADUATION RATES THAN STUDENTS WHO DON’T TAKE AP.
WORK HARD IN YOUR RIGHTEOUS PURSUITS, AND YOU WILL REAP THE BENEFITS OF SELF-FULFILLMENT AND JOB SATISFACTION. DON’T TAKE SHORTCUTS JUST TO “GET BY,” INSTEAD, TAKE CHALLENGING AND DIFFICULT ROADS (COURSES) AND REACH HIGHER MOUNTAIN PEAKS OF ACHIEVEMENT.

Student Success Statement- Confucius

Student Success Statement
“To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice”
Confucius
This statement is true because when you know you are going to do something right and not do it I think in my opinion that is just acting foolish.  Why would someone not want to do something good, some people might not do it because they think the bad people are going to make fun of them for choosing the right but they shouldn't think like that. When you do something good is because it’s going to bring you good not harm or anything bad. So why reject something that is going to bring you happiness and success in your life.  That is why we learn from our mistakes and change to be someone better and do great things but if we choose not to follow the right then we are just cowards.

Social Studies
You can better understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and history that had shaped them. Here is a suggested course plan:
·        U.S history (two semesters)
·        U.S government (one semester)
·        World History or geography (one semester)
·        One additional semester in the above or other areas
Foreign Language
Solid foreign language can be a challenge but is exciting. Repetition is the key to learning a language, and having conversations with others speaking the same language is the best way to learn this new language. Repetition in a fun way will build your skills thoroughly as you seek to master new languages.

       SCIENCE
SCIENCE TEACHES YOU TO THINK ANALYTICALOLY AND APPLY THEORIES TO REALITY. COLLEGES WANT TO SEE THAT YOU’VE TAKEN AT LEAST THREE YEARS OF LABOROTORY SCIENCE CLASSES. A GOOD COMBINATION INCLUDES TWO SEMESTERS OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING SCIENCES:
·        BIOLOGY
·        CHEMISTRY OR PHYSICS
·        EARTH/SPACE SCIENCE
MORE COMPETITIVE SCHOOLS EXPECT YOU TO TAKE FOUR YEARS OF LAB SCIENCE COURSES. YOU CAN ADD TWO SEMESTERS IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS:

·        CHEMISTRY OR PHYSICS (THE SCIENCE YOU DIDN’T ALREADY STUDY)
·        ADVANCED BIOLOGY
·        ADVANCED CHEMISTRY
·        ADVANCED PHYSICS

Student Success Statement
“Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the (3) magic keys to living your life with integrity.”
W. Clement Stone
I strongly agree with this statement because when people lead us to do bad things we are always going to want to follow what they do even if you know they are doing something wrong. So that is why we need to have the courage to stand up for ourselves and learn to say no. It is just simple as that saying no isn’t hard at all it is keeping you from doing something you don’t want to do.  If you end up doing something you don’t want to do don’t let others bring you down with them. You should always live your life with honesty and of course courage to say no to the bad things because that will lead you away from many bad obstacles you’ll face in life. An example if someone is offering you marijuana but you don’t want to do it but they are pressuring you to do it, it is ok to say no and just walk away I guarantee that will be the best decision you’ll ever make because you will also feel good knowing that you chose the right.

Summary And Reflection Man Stole Money

Summary: Today’s story was about an elderly man who came in to the Sear’s store to return some stolen cash. This happened in the state of Washington that a man walks in and gives an envelope to a worker there and inside the envelope there was $100. But also inside that envelope there was a note saying that he has stolen $30 60 years ago and was giving the money back the one he had  stolen to clear his conscience because he felt bad after all those years.
Reflection: My thoughts about this is that the man did do good in his part returning the money but that still doesn’t mean he did good. He still stole money and I my opinion that was bad in his part he shouldn't have done that because you should never let temptation get to you in such an evil way. Also, he shouldn't have waited so many years in paying back the money because even if you pay back the money it doesn't count most people serve jail time. But the man felt guilty for what he had done and that is good and he chose to choose the right and maybe that taught him a lesson that stealing isn't any good it just brings you misery and doesn’t not make you happy and you just feel bad knowing that you did something bad.  That is why we should always choose the right!!!

Selecting Your Courses Part 2

Selecting Your Courses
Part 2
The following subjects and classes are standard dare for success in high school and beyond, whether you plan to attend a four-year or two-year college.
English (Language Arts)
Take English every year. Traditional courses, such as American and English literature, help you improve your writing skills, reading comprehension and vocabulary.
Math
You need algebra and geometry to succeed on college entrance exams and in college math classes--- and in many careers. Take them early on. That way, you’ll be able to enroll in advanced science and math in high school, and show colleges you’re ready for higher-level work.
Most colleges look for students who have taken three years of math in high school. The more competitive ones require or recommended four years. Each schools has its own program, but some of the courses typically offered are:

Student Success Statement - Thomas Caryle

Student Success Statement
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
-          Thomas Carlyle
In my opinion this quote means that if you don’t set goals for yourself you are not going to get anywhere in life. However, if you pick to set some goals in your life like for example, being successful having your dream job changing your personality or even to stop choosing the wrong. You always have to stick through your goals no matter what because if you don’t then what is there nothing. Each person sets a goals for themselves for a reason because they want to change and be something in life so even if they are not  big goals it’s always  nice to know that you have set something for yourself that you know you can do but just if you try and there are going to be lots of steps you’re going to take  to reach that goal. But if you want to reach your goals you have to stick to it and never give up!

The Power of Study Groups Part 4

The Power of Study Groups
Part 4
Getting the Most Out of a Session
Here are some tips to help your group get the most out of each study session:
·        Decide what you’re going to do in advance.
·        Prepare for the session, so you can make the most of your time together.
·        Take turns teaching, to reinforce your own knowledge.
·        Stick to the session topic.
By supplementing your individual study with a study group, you can reinforce what you’ve learned, deepen your understanding of complex concepts, and maybe even make a few new friends. Remember that a friend is a person who encourages you to do your best and to achieve on a high level, one who pushes you to try a little harder and be a litter better. If someone pulls you down the wrong trails of life, then those people are not friends, (they are actually your enemies), and you must avoid them at all cost. Whoever said learning can’t be fun? Learning is enjoyable and exciting when you study with others.
